Human impacts on the environment!

About a few weeks ago I saw a big traffic jam. I was thinking that this wouldn’t happen that much if people took a different type of transportation such as public buses, walking or biking. If people took these types of transportations instead of their vehicles, their ecological footprint would have a big decrease in it just because of the way their getting around. Also this way there wouldn’t be as many traffic jams. This doesn’t just affect humans it also affects the environment. This is called air pollution.

Air pollution is a human impact on the environment. It is not just affected by vehicles, many other things cause air pollution. Such as planes, industries and our waste/garbage that we produce. We can’t reduce air pollution till it’s all gone. No matter how much we try to reduce it. We will always have air pollution, but this doesn’t mean we can’t still reduce it. We can, every little bit helps. We can carpool, walk, take a bus or bike. We can recycle our paper and plastics. Also we can cut down on the garbage we produce to reduce our waste.

This is smoke coming from factories and refineries that is causing air pollution.

Some other human impacts on the environment are our wastes and clear cutting. Waste is caused by the garbage we produce. This can attract rodents and insects which can cause parasites, yellow fever and worms. It can also cause diseases like cancer. These wastes can contaminate surface water, ground water, soil and air which causes more problems for humans, species and ecosystems. We can solve this problem by doing the 3 R’s. Recycle- your paper and plastics. Reduce- the amount of garbage you produce. Compost some of your wastes. Re-use- your plastic containers and papers. Buy reusable products like cups, plates and Tupperware instead of using paper plates, cups and plastic bags.
Our wastes and garbage we produce.
Our wastes and garbage that we produce.
Clearcutting has a major negative impact on the environment. Some negative affects are soil erosion, poor quality regrowth, increase risk of pest epidemics, increase in wildfires and loss of carbon dioxide. Some solutions we can do are, if you cut down a tree after you could replant 2 more seeds. You can also recycle the left over wood that you are not using so other people can use it, then they don’t have to go and cut another tree down.another way to reduce our ecological footprint is instead of buying a real Christmas tree you can buy a fake one which will last longer and so that you don’t have to cut down a new tree every year.

This is an image of clearcutting.
These are just a few human impacts on the environment and how to reduce them to make out ecological footprint smaller. There are tons of human impacts on the environment out there, which is sad but we can still reduce them and lower our ecological footprint!
